Overview:
Whitehall Resources are seeking an experienced SAP Basis Administrator to join a growing IT team supporting critical enterprise systems. This role will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of SAP landscapes across multiple environments, while working closely with functional, infrastructure, and development teams.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on SAP Basis experience, with additional exposure to database administration (particularly SQL Server) to support the wider system landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer, monitor, and maintain SAP systems across development, test, and production environments;
• Perform SAP installations, upgrades, patches, and system refreshes with minimal business disruption;
• Manage SAP transports and coordinate changes across system landscapes;
• Monitor system performance, identify issues, and proactively implement optimisations;
• Support SAP system health checks, including batch job monitoring, spool management, and ABAP dump analysis;
• Ensure high availability and reliability of SAP environments, including coordination of backup and recovery strategies;
• Collaborate with functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve SAP-related technical issues;
• Work closely with infrastructure and database teams to ensure system performance and stability;
• Support database environments (SQL Server), including basic administration, performance monitoring, and coordination of maintenance activities;
• Maintain system security standards, including user administration and compliance requirements;
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and runbooks;
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide out-of-hours support when required;

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on experience in SAP Basis administration within enterprise environments;
• Proven experience with SAP system installations, upgrades, and patching;
• Experience supporting SAP system performance monitoring and troubleshooting;
• Knowledge of transport management and landscape coordination;
• Familiarity with database administration, particularly SQL Server;
• Understanding of system security, compliance, and best practices;
• Experience working with Windows Server environments and Active Directory integration;
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills;

Preferred / Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., PowerShell);
• Exposure to cloud-based environments or managed database services;
• Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools;
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and change management;
• Exposure to SAP Security concepts;

Additional Information:

• This role requires working on-site four days per week;
• Relocation support may be available;
• Candidates must meet applicable regulatory and compliance requirements for access to certain technologies;
